This February Pace Gallery, New York, hosts聽Sea of Buddha, an exhibition featuring photographs from Hiroshi Sugimoto鈥檚 series of the same title and a related film work.聽The Sea of Buddha series, conceived in 1988 and realised in 1995, explores the artist’s聽overarching interest in light, history and time 鈥 which the artist refers to as 鈥渙ne of the most abstract concepts human beings have created.鈥 For the exhibition, 36聽photographs from the series will be installed, alongside聽works from Sugimoto鈥檚 iconic Seascapes series (1980鈥), in which the horizon divides sea and sky in varying locations and atmospheric conditions.
