罢丑别听聽showcases cutting-edge practice from today’s ground-breaking contemporary artists, celebrating all media, from drawing, painting and photography to sculpture, installation, video and performance. With 6聽days to go until聽the Art Prize call for entries deadline, we highlight Maroesjka Lavigne’s photograph聽Blue Lagoon聽(2012), which was selected for publication in聽Future Now.
Lavigne travelled through Iceland for four months, a country that was聽unfamiliar to the artist in terms of light and colour, and聽how the snow held the country in its veil, creating a big white void. Wondering how this scene would look in wintertime, she decided to return for another month in January; cities looked like scale models seeking shelter from the bleak weather in the shadow of the mountains. In Blue Lagoon, it was Lavigne’s聽intention to express the dazzling and mesmerising moment that seems to stop time.
