Aesthetica is inviting visitors to cast their vote for the People鈥檚 Choice Award. The exhibition, housed at York St Mary鈥檚 鈥 York Art Gallery鈥檚 contemporary art space, runs until 22 June and presents the work of eight shortlisted artists. Following on from the official announcement of the winners of the Main Prize and Student Prize Awards, Sybille Neumeyer and Harriet Lewars respectively, Aesthetica is giving audiences the opportunity to choose their winner. Additionally, voters are entered into the Free Prize Draw with a chance of winning an exclusive evening in York, including a meal for two at Le Cochon Aveugle, cinema tickets for Reel and champagne cocktails at 1331.
Organised by 人妻少妇专区, in partnership with , the Art Prize brings international contemporary artwork to the city of York in a dynamic and engaging exhibition. Now in its second year, the exhibition presents a great opportunity for local, national and international visitors to experience something new and exciting.
With shortlisted pieces in photography, painting and drawing to three dimensional design, sculpture and film, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Audiences are invited to interact with the show; Harriet Lewars鈥 Frustum Super Planum Cum Filia Lyrae (2013) is a playable musical sculpture; Elke Finkenauer鈥檚 Draw A Line Somewhere (2013) is a drawing lifted into three dimensional reality, suspended from the vaults of the church, and invites viewers to experience it in the round.
Other artists in the exhibition and up for nomination include: Deb Covell鈥檚 Black and White Paintings (2013), which have been described as 鈥済raceful minimalism鈥 by Robert Clark of the Guardian; In茅s Molina Navea鈥檚 compelling photographic series 541 d铆as (2013) previously showcased in Spain, Argentina, Peru, the USA and Germany; and Ingrid Hu鈥檚 bowl display Longplayer (2013), who worked as a designer for Lubetkin-winning Heatherwick Studio for seven years before setting up her own practice. Remaining artists are Julia Wei脽enberg who presents her outstanding essay film There is no real way of knowing (2013) and Amedeo Abello & Federico Morando presenting their work LIFE/FILE (2013), which is hot on the pulse of digital innovation.
To celebrate the Aesthetica Art Prize People鈥檚 Choice Award, the winner will be treated to a truly unique dining experience at one of York鈥檚 most finest restaurants Le Cochon Aveugle, amongst other prizes. The Prize Draw Winner and the People鈥檚 Choice Award winning artist will be announced on 1 July. Voting can only take place in the gallery and ends 22 June.
