In a new section of Art Projects, a pivotal component of the annual , a series of collaborations between emerging UK and international galleries is to take place. Curated by ‘ Adam Carr and entitled Dialogues, this new initiative on display at the Fair from 15-19 January sees galleries and artists join forces, promising a unique exhibition of critical conversations, awash with the excitement of shared ideas and common visuals. Aesthetica partners with the London Art Fair and exclusive copies of the magazine will be available for guests.
Matching up galleries normally divided by countries, Dialogues pairs , Cologne with , London, , Warsaw, with, London, with London’s and Rome’swith the capital’s . These institutions are then invited to converse, interact and exchange, establishing new relationships not just with each other, but between art fairs and the public through their displays.
Leading a championing of contemporary art across the globe, this year’s Art Projects features large-scale installations, solo shows and group displays alongside an extensive film and performance programme, making the project a key international multi-discipline platform for the most stimulating contemporary practice. Alongside Dialogues, other Art Project highlights include the launch of 2014, featuring 40 of the most talented new graduate and postgraduate artists from art colleges around the UK, and an immersive group show from The Residence Gallery, which brings together sounds, space, motion and image.
Inviting in a new selection of galleries, 2014’s Art Projects will, for the first time, see the inclusion of Brooklyn’s , which looks at dreams through the work of Gabriel Barcia, Colombo Laurent Ch茅h猫re and James Minden; Newcastle鈥檚 , with an international group presentation, Between Fact and Fiction; and Paris based with a solo presentation from 脡ric Tabuchi.
Plenty of youthful faces will also be in residence with the youngest gallery at the Fair, opened just in October 2013 and exhibiting photographic works from Italian artist Ra di Martino, who documents her travels to iconic desert film sets. British burgeoning stars Nicole Morris, a recent nominee for the Max Mara Prize for female artists and Alison Erika Forde, one of the youngest artists to ever have a solo exhibition at the , will also displaying their work to a global audience this January.
