Aesthetica Art Prize Exhibition Talk with Marcus Lyon, Shortlisted Artist

Marcus Lyon, shortlisted artist in this year鈥檚 , will be at York St Mary’s on Thursday 28 May to discuss his photographic聽practice, process and wider involvement in the art world. In this, the last聽instalment of the聽Aesthetica Art Prize Exhibition Lunchtime Talks, attendees will be invited to explore key works in the show聽through the eyes of one of this year’s eight finalists.

Lyon鈥檚 works and publications聽are held in numerous private and international collections including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Arts Council Collection of Great Britain. 聽Born and raised in rural Britain, he read Political Science at Leeds University and Leadership at Harvard Business School.聽Turning his attentions to the visual arts, Lyon聽uses photography and print to reflect on the universal theme of globalisation.

The artist describes his shortlisted piece聽in the Aesthetica Art Prize anthology, Future Now: “贰虫辞诲耻蝉听depicts landscapes without horizons, built from a myriad of perspectives, each one familiar to the inhabitants of these environments and yet intriguingly new: mirroring the multiple patterns of migration that feed these homages to the human will to conquer and adapt in the name of the future.”

Showcasing cutting-edge practice from today鈥檚 ground-breaking contemporary artists, the Aesthetica Art Prize Exhibition 2015 invites viewers to discover global concepts through pioneering art and design, and encourages an awareness of the innovative work being produced across a variety of media today. Connecting with viewers聽on many levels, the innovators selected for this year鈥檚 award hail from locations including Australia, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA.
