Devoid of human activity, Candida H枚fer’s work is pervaded by a sense of absence. The artist’s abstracted images of grand architectural structures instead allude to and anticipate the presence of an audience, as rows of empty chairs lie dormant and stacks of books wait to be read. A solo exhibition at Rena Bransten Gallery,听San Francisco, pairs the practitioner’s large-scale works with smaller pieces, inviting the viewer to explore her entire oeuvre.
