Our final weekend of call for entries is fast-approaching. There are four days left to submit your artwork to next year’s competition. Today, we reflect on the ever-popular Painting &聽Drawing category聽with longlisted artist聽Brigitte K枚rber. Selected for her painting entitled聽Zusammenhalt (Cohesion), the Berlin-based practitioner finds inspiration in technical production processes.
K枚rber paints objects of a mechanical聽nature by making use of uncommon perspectives, surroundings, colours or relationships to create a narrative arrangement. This duality of an exact reproduction of objects and the free use of colour and structure forming the background creates an arc of suspense that inspires the viewer to think freely about those objects. Zusammenhalt (Cohesion) shows details of industrial metal, which form key parts of our daily life.
Her聽work聽featured聽in the Aesthetica Art Prize 2015 exhibition and can be found聽in the current publication Future Now. The annual award is聽open for entries until 31 August.
