The 聽call for entries closes in 17 days. As part of聽the countdown to the聽deadline on 31 August, we take a look at our聽Judging Panel for 2016. Joining a聽selection of influential art figures, including curators, directors and artists, is Whitney Hintz, Independent Advisor and Curator of the . Her second year as a panellist, Hintz has also supported the award as a speaker at the Aesthetica Art Prize 2015 exhibition and a contributor to Future Now, the Art Prize anthology.
Hintz plays a key role in sourcing new works, advising private clients and overseeing the collection, which comprises聽600 works on display across the company鈥檚 offices in the UK, Europe and USA. Last year, the company acquired聽541 d铆as, a photographic series of five portraits by Chilean artist In茅s Molina Navea, who was one of the finalists in the Aesthetica Art Prize 2014.
In Future Now聽Hintz describes Hiscox as an international specialist insurer, but also a “collector and enabler” of art. A sponsor of the Aesthetica Art Prize, the company has, since the 1970s, been building an international collection that refashions the working environment into a stimulating and engaging place. It includes works from diverse practitioners such as Frank Auerbach, Sophie Calle, Richard Hamilton, and Candida Hofer.
In addition to her work at Hiscox,聽Hintz聽is a board member of the Crossrail Arts Programme and Sculpture in the City, an annual outdoor public sculpture exhibition located within the City of London鈥檚 Square Mile. She is also a consultant for the Kenneth Armitage and Eduardo Paolozzi Foundations, and was previously Associate Director at Frith Street Gallery where she worked on projects at Venice Biennale and Tate Britain.
The Aesthetica Art Prize is a celebration of excellence in art from across the world. It offers both emerging and established artists the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience.聽Prizes聽include 拢5,000 Main Prize courtesy of , 拢1,000 Student Prize courtesy of Hiscox, a group exhibition in partnership with York Museums Trust, publication in the Aesthetica Art Prize Anthology, editorial in Aesthetica聽(186,000 readership worldwide), art books courtesy of Prestel, and art supplies vouchers courtesy of Winsor & Newton.
