In the early 1980s, Christiane Zschommler鈥檚 grandmother smuggled 1984, which was forbidden in the GDR, through Check Point Charlie. The Beyond Orwell Series (2018) focuses on the artist鈥檚 experiences under totalitarianism, photographing objects using the artist’s own Stasi file 1214/87 and found government statistics, developing retrieved data into more abstract formations.
