Whilst painting in-situ, Amanda Watson experiments with the ways in which artists can connect materials to the land. By constantly staying alert to what happens during that process, the work unfolds organically on the canvas. These discoveries are evident in the completed painting. One of the techniques is a form of frottage where Watson 鈥渨raps鈥 the surface of the land, pushing the folds of canvas in and around rocks or up trees.
