Fashion house, , has joined forces with South African photographer, Pieter Hugo, to shoot the Spring /Summer campaign. Every season the new collection is conceived and captured by an exceptional photographer in conjunction within Creative Director Tomas Maier. Other artists to have worked for the house include Alex Prager, Nan Goldin, Sam Taylor-Wood and many more. The Art of Collaboration is a series of films documenting Maier and Hugo’s vision, unifying fashion and art in a stylish and creative film.
Hugo and Bottega Veneta collaborated for both the women鈥檚 and men鈥檚 collections and photographed the new season on location in New Jersey. The photographer is well-known for producing images that are both pointedly socio-political and deeply personal. Working with a variety of different forms, including portraiture, domestic interiors, landscapes and still-life, he examines the unsettled nature of society in his home country. Maier was drawn to Hugo鈥檚 unique use of colour and his ability to capture subjects in a poetic way. The subtleties of Bottega Veneta鈥檚 new collection come to life in the artist鈥檚 bold images.
The Spring / Summer season explores the possibilities of material and proportion. Using fabric created specifically by the fashion house, the women鈥檚 range carries light and dark colours, contrasting dark blues with dusty neutrals. Embroidery and swatching is also utilised in the construction of the garments, creating a multi- dimensional effect. The men鈥檚 range is built upon a new silhouette, juxtaposing a generous top with a slim pant. Layering the items with a plethora of different checks and refined and saturated colours, the overall effect of the new season is clean, fresh and precise. Hugo picks up on these themes in his stunning photographs.
