Art Cinema at (mima) returns for a one-off special, showing another diverse selection of classic and contemporary artists’ films and videos. Previous events have included work by Salvador Dali, Ren茅 Clair and Rachel Maclean. Curated by artist and filmmaker AJ Garrett, this year鈥檚 cinematic occasion guarantees its audiences an array of unusual sights and sounds. We share a run-down of what’s on at mima this autumn.

Claes Oldenburg Bottle of Notes: 20 Years On

This year sees the 20th anniversary of Middlesbrough鈥檚 iconic sculpture Bottle of Notes. Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. drew inspiration from the history of exploration in the area through the voyages of Captain Cook.
William Tillyer: Against Nature

This autumn, mima gives over all its major gallery spaces to the work of Middlesbrough-born William Tillyer, in the largest presentation by a single artist at mima since the gallery鈥檚 opening in 2007.
