Inside the , works from exciting new and emerging artists from around the world are displayed with an accompanying biography and artist’s statement. There are 100 practitioners included and they span across all media from sculpture and installation to video and performance.
It is a rare opportunity to have the chance to view so many engaging and compelling works by artists who are at a pivotal point in their career and are furthering their engagement with the international art world. The artists included in the shortlist and longlist hail from all corners of the world: from the USA to Chile and from Germany to New Zealand and across the UK. The categories are Photographic and Digital Art; Three Dimensional Design and Sculpture; Painting and Drawing, and Video, Installation and Performance.
This year’s Prize attracted over 3,000 entries demonstrating exceptional artistic talent, and which embraced new developments in materials, form and content touching upon issues of cultural identity, environmental change and the post-medium age. This anthology provides you with the opportunity to explore these artists’ works and read their statements, which explain their current working practice and the inspiration behind the pieces.
There are also four essays by leading painter Stuart Semple, curator Pavel PyÅ› from the and Helen Trompeteler from the , as well as from Julia Vogl, the 2012 winner of the . Through this collection you will have the opportunity to read about current trends in contemporary art as well as experience the diversity and breadth of work being produced today.
