Rebecca Cochran’s final major project is about female inequality in the gaming industry. “Although women make up almost half of all gamers in the world, there is still a gender divide,” the designer notes. “This is through sexualisation, harassment, under-representation and unbalance in workplaces.” Glitch Awards is an annual gaming ceremony, focused on equality, inclusivity, diversity and pushing for a better community. By recognising progressive games, companies and people, it brings these problems to light 鈥 whilst finding ways to fix them. This goes hand-in-hand with the key messaging: 鈥淏e a Glitch.鈥 It originates from the idea that everyone is different and unique. “By embracing and accepting the people around us, we can start to be a more inclusive community.”
