Global Realities

Global Realities

Chronicling the impact of human industry on the planet, The Anthropocene Project聽is an interdisciplinary project聽by Edward Burtynsky, Jennifer Baichwal and Nicholas de Pencier.聽 Demonstrating, in Burtynsky’s words, the 鈥渋ndelible human signature鈥 of processes such as terraforming, extraction, urbanisation and deforestation, the large scale images – now on view in The Human Signature at Flowers Gallery, London – offer abstracted aerial views of a striking global reality.

The painterly yet deeply revelatory compositions provide audiences with an insight into otherwise unseen events, bringing into focus issues of resource depletion and extinction. Looking to the future of artistic practice, the show presents a聽photogrammetric augmented reality (AR) installation, expanding the boundaries of the documentary image into three dimensions.

The exhibition is open until 24 November. Find out more
