Conceptual artist He Xiangyu’s recent film, The Swim, captures the uncanny truths of the practitioner’s childhood home. Unearthing the everyday experiences of Kuandian residents – many of whom are Chinese war veterans or North Korean defectors – the film explores themes of survival and identity.
