Transient Luminosity

Vancouver Art Gallery takes time to reflect upon photographer Stephen Shore’s important body of images created during visits to Monet’s garden at聽Giverny between 1977 and 1982. The Giverny Portfolio聽provides a rare opportunity to view the entire series of 25 photographs. Shown for the first time in Vancouver, the presentation complements the exhibition Claude Monet鈥檚 Secret Garden;聽visual comparisons can be made between Shore’s understanding of colour in photography and Monet’s sensitivity towards light, the changing seasons and the passing of time.
