Tectonic Change

States of America聽looks back on a generation of practitioners who experimented with documentary photography throughout聽three decades that shaped the polarised landscape of Trump鈥檚 America.聽Drawing from the collection of the Wilson Centre for Photography, this timely exhibition will stretch from the Civil Rights Movement to the Reagan Era, exploring former tectonic shifts in American society and politics. From the decay of city centres and the decline of industry to suburban sprawl and the development of mass advertising, photographers such as聽Diane Arbus, Louis Draper, William Eggleston, Stephen Shore and Bruce Davidson provide a visual insight into the nation’s turbulent past, present and future.
