This year, hosts its 56th edition and boasts a new format for the classic section and two events providing new听visualisations of contemporary design and the workspace.听Running from Tuesday 4 to Sunday 9 April,听the fair is an acknowledged showcase for excellence and quality in design. Each year, it attracts more than 300,000 visitors from over 165 different countries with its comprehensive range of goods 鈥 from furnishings and听lighting to the workspace. Comprised of five exhibitions, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Euroluce, Workplace3.0 and SaloneSatellite, the event will be held at the Fiera Milano Rho. It is open to professionals from 4 April and members of the public from 8 April.

The Salone鈥檚 close partnership with Milan is key, making the city and the event a key hub for design. 鈥淭he Salone del Mobile is on the home strait and both the companies involved and the organisers are looking forward to mid-April with great optimism. This positive mood is driven by the sector鈥檚 upbeat performance during the first 10听months of 2016, and it will hopefully maintain this trend over the next few quarters. Italian furnishing continues to gain ground on almost all the international markets.鈥 said Salone del Mobile.Milano president Roberto Snaidero.听The Salone del Mobile is reprising its role as a major resource for the Italian system, thanks to its ability to attract professionals, visitors, designers, buyers and journalists to Milan from all over the world.

Following xLux’s most recent听successful launch 鈥 the section devoted to timeless luxury reworked in a contemporary vein 鈥 the Salone Internazionale del Mobile has brought in an innovative format for classic furniture and furnishing accessories, in Pavilions 2 and 4 2 and 4 2 and 4, under a new name, Classic: Tradition in the future. A central promenade invites听visitors into a space that draws on values such as patrimony of knowledge, craftsmanship and the skills needed to create classic furniture and objects. The exhibition will also feature a room from the Before Design: Classic project presented at the last edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, along with a听short film by director Matteo Garrone.

Now into its 29th edition, Euroluce showcases the best the lighting market has to offer, from decorative to illuminotechnical products 鈥 used in the industrial, street, theatrical and hospital lighting sectors 鈥 as well as lighting and home automation systems, light sources and lighting application software, all with a particular focus on environmental sustainability. Meanwhile听Workplace3.0 鈥 now into its18th edition 鈥 is based on an innovative concept based on design and technology for workspaces and is an event that responds to the rapid change in the world of work. The exhibition showcases the furnishing solutions for offices, banks, insurance offices, post offices and public spaces.

SaloneSatellite brings together a selection of young designers from five听continents with entrepreneurs, architects, interior designers and the press. The theme of the 20th edition is DESIGN is 鈥?, an open, topical and crucial question. The 20 years of SaloneSatellite will be celebrated with听the SaloneSatellite 20 Years Collection and the eighth听SalonSatellite Award.听Alongside the purely commercial exhibitions, the fair will feature two events that tie in with the two biennial themes, fairgrounds light and the workplace. The first, DeLightFuL, a portmanteau for Design, Light, Future, Living, is curated by Ciarmoli Queda Studio, which produced Before Design: Classic for the last edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano.听The second event, A Joyful Sense at Work, curated by Cristiana Cutrona, is a visualisation of the evolving workplace scenario of the future.
