,聽Asia鈥檚 premier art fair dedicated to photography, opens this weekend with a dynamic programme of shows presented by a selection of聽international聽galleries. This year, the fair brings together some of the most exciting names from the world of fine art photography hailing from聽15 countries including聽China, Taiwan, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, the US, the UK, amongst others.
Organised by the聽World Photography Organisation, this year’s fair, and聽Photo Shanghai’s聽second edition, features an array of 50 leading galleries and over 500 works of art for sale by artists. Notable names in attendance are Nobuyoshi Araki, Birdhead, Guy Bourdin, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Hsieh Chun-te, Elliott Erwitt, Chien-Chi Chang, Yang Fudong, Candida H枚fer, Horst P. Horst, Axel H眉ette, Andr茅 Kert茅sz, Steven Klein, Gustave Le Gray, Aki Lumi, Daido Moriyama, Vik Muniz, Jimmy Nelson, Helmut Newton, Martin Parr, and Erwin Olaf.
Taking place at聽the Shanghai Exhibition Centre until 13 September, the fair offers an opportunity for international聽collectors and audiences to explore works by emerging and established artists from across the Asia Pacific and the rest of the world.聽Photo Shanghai is committed to curating museum scale and quality exhibitions, as well as exploring the relationship between photography and other media. Its 2015聽programme聽highlights include: an exhibition of work by聽Taryn Simon hosted by Gagosian Gallery, the聽Chinese debut of new work by aerial performance artist Li Wei, and an new video project curated by Professor Zhang Peili.
