With 26 days to go until the call for entries closes,聽we explore this year鈥檚 rich聽selection of projects created by聽an innovative group of聽international practitioners across diverse categories. Today’s focus is on the聽Artists’ Film聽category, with conceptual artist Denys Blacker.
Living and working in Spain, Blacker uses performance, sculpture and drawing to explore themes of symmetry and precision. Her selected piece The Noble Gases聽appeared in the Aesthetica Art Prize 2015 exhibition and anthology. A series of seven performances for camera, The Noble Gases is based on Blacker鈥檚 research into the Periodic Table. The artist examines the malleable and shape-shifting properties of individual gases whilst looking at their relationship to reality and consciousness in everyday life.
A celebration of excellence in art from across the world, the Aesthetica Art Prize聽offers both emerging and established artists the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience. The award聽invites artists to submit work into any one of the following four categories: Photographic & Digital Art; Painting & Drawing; Three Dimensional Design & Sculpture, and Video, Installation & Performance.
Prizes聽include 拢5,000 Main Prize courtesy of , 拢1,000 Student Prize courtesy of Hiscox, a group exhibition in partnership with , publication in the Aesthetica Art Prize Anthology, editorial in Aesthetica聽(186,000 readership worldwide), art books courtesy of , and art supplies vouchers courtesy of (拢250 for main prize winner; 拢150 for student prize winner).
