The Aesthetica Art Prize 2016 Countdown: One Month To Go

There is one month to go until the annual call for entries closes. A celebration of excellence in art from across the world, the award offers both emerging and established artists the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience, and further their engagement with the international art world. Shortlisted聽artists will participate in a group exhibition in聽partnership with York Museums Trust聽and receive聽editorial coverage in 人妻少妇专区, amongst other prizes.

In previous years the聽competition has welcomed聽a vast array聽of practitioners hailing from locations as diverse as聽Australia, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the UK and the USA.聽With each finalist and longlisted artist聽comes聽an inspirational project, which聽actively examines global concepts through pioneering art and design.

This year former official British war artist聽John Keane was awarded the Main Prize for his haunting depictions of arrested victims from the great Stalinist terror of the 1930s. His聽Fear聽series teases out the essence of a fundamental human emotion; one that is universal and determines behaviour in all walks of life. Keane’s work and selected聽artists’ work can be found in the 2015 Art Prize anthology,聽.

Meanwhile, previous finalists include Julia Vogl, also shortlisted for New Sensations 鈥 Saatchi Gallery and Channel 4鈥瞫 Prize; Ingrid Hu, former designer at the Lubetkin-winning Heatherwick Studio; and Bernat Millet, also shortlisted for National Portrait Gallery鈥檚 Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize.

The Aesthetica Art Prize invites artists to submit work聽into any one of the following four categories: Photographic & Digital Art; Painting & Drawing; Three Dimensional Design & Sculpture, and Video, Installation & Performance.

Prizes聽include 拢5,000 Main Prize courtesy of , 拢1,000 Student Prize courtesy of Hiscox, a group exhibition in partnership with York Museums Trust, publication in the Aesthetica Art Prize Anthology, editorial in Aesthetica聽(186,000 readership worldwide), art books courtesy of Prestel, and art supplies vouchers courtesy of Winsor & Newton (拢250 for main prize winner; 拢150 for student prize winner).
