FACT 2015 Exhibition Programme, Foundation for Art and Creative Technology, Liverpool

, the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology, is one of the聽UK’s leading media arts centre whose forward-thinking, all-inclusive programme of exhibitions, film and participant-led art projects intends to inspire and enrich. For 2015, its four annual exhibitions includes a selection of international new-media art, beginning with Group Therapy: Mental Distress in a Digital Age.

Group Therapy: Mental Distress in a Digital Age聽investigates well-being, health and its relationship with our digitally loaded reality. The exhibition challenges visitors to rethink their understanding of areas such as mental health and to reflect upon how far we value personal well-being and how we use technology to manage and mediate our emotions today.

Following this in June is Build Your Own: Tools for Sharing, which looks at the effect of digital technology upon production. Traditional methods have been replaced, with new ways of working, sharing and collaborating allowing a new generation of 鈥榠ndiepreneurs鈥 – hackers, bloggers and co-creatives 鈥 to flourish. The show will explore this new work, and who has benefited as well as what might have been lost.

Beginning in September is Lesions in the Landscape by artist Shona Illingworth, which showcases her three-year research project exploring how amnesia and cultural erasure affect the individual and their wider community. The project uses cutting edge technologies in an attempt to understand the phenomenology of amnesia by accessing previously inaccessible memories, and to look into not only the physiological repercussions of the illness but also the emotional effect upon sense of identity, place and relationships.
