We are delighted to present the Judging Panel for the 2015. The Prize is open for submissions until 31 August 2014. Spanning the arts, film, music and cultural industries, our judges lend their expertise to support the next generation of leading practitioners. The panellists will be looking for innovative artworks that display excellence in technical skill and ability. The Judging Panel includes the following art-world professionals.
Anna Vogel
German artist Anna Vogel lives and works in D眉sseldorf. She was awarded the prize of the capital city D眉sseldorf for visual arts in 2012 and the dHCS-Studio Grant of Kunstverein der Rheinlande und Westfalen in 2013. Her works have been shown in solo presentations at the KIT/Kunsthalle D眉sseldorf and the Galerie Conrads (both 2013) and at the Bienal Arte Lanzarote (2014). Group exhibitions include State of the Art 鈥 New Contemporary Photography at NRW Forum D眉sseldorf (2012) and So h盲lt uns auch im Banne fremdes Sein at Kunstsammlung NRW, D眉sseldorf (2014). Most recently her art has appeared in a solo exhibition, Give Back the Kingdom at Spr眉th Magers, Berlin.
Cherie Federico
Managing Director of Cherie Federico is the Editor of 人妻少妇专区 and the Director of the Aesthetica Art Prize. Originally from New York Cherie moved to the UK in 2002 to study for her Masters Degree and since then has developed Aesthetica into an international brand alongside the and the . Cherie is delighted about this year鈥檚 Aesthetica Art Prize and is passionate about artists that are pushing boundaries and creating innovative works; those that inspire discussion, surrounding form or content, and speak about the world in which we live. In her spare time she enjoys travelling, reading and running. to view a film with Cherie speaking about 2014鈥檚 selected artists.
Matthew Flowers
Managing Director of Matthew Flowers is a contemporary art dealer based in London. He began working with his mother Angela Flowers at her gallery in 1975 and is now Managing Director of the three Flowers galleries in London and New York. Throughout his career he has been on boards and committees of international art fairs and arts institutions and, since 2008, has been a non-executive Director of DACS (visual artists鈥 rights management organisation). Flowers Gallery is committed to discovering new talent and developing the work of established artists through exhibitions and participation in international art fairs. The gallery is an active publisher of prints and multiples with a dedicated focus on international photography.
Professor Rob Dickins
CBE
Rob Dickins has had a successful career in the music and arts industries spanning 39 years. First appointed as International Vice President of the Warner Bros Music Publishing, he later became Chairman of major record company . In 1999 Dickins established entertainment company Instant Karma, which became an independent label. Dharma Music achieved chart successes with Cher, Rod Stewart and Girls Aloud. In 2000 he became a Trustee of the , London, where he was also the Chairman of and Director of V&A Enterprises. Rob chairs the and has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate from .
Dr Sam Lackey
Curator at Dr Sam Lackey鈥檚 original specialism is in Surrealist film. She worked as a Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Studies in Surrealism and its Legacies before moving into curating, firstly at the Whitworth Art Gallery on the exhibition Subversive Spaces: Surrealism and Contemporary Art and then at The Hepworth Wakefield in 2010 as part of the team that opened the gallery in 2011. She works across all aspects of the collections and exhibitions programme, and is currently researching plasters and prototypes from traditional casting to contemporary artists鈥 use of the material. She has published on surrealist film, theories of attention in film and the role of the body in moving image work.
Sarah Perks
Artistic Director, (Visual Art & Film), & (Manchester)
Sarah Perks is an international curator, film programmer and producer with significant experience of contemporary visual art, independent film and engagement. A specialist in artist feature length film (setting up Cornerhouse Artist Film in 2011), performance and participatory art, Sarah has worked extensively with internationally renowned artists and filmmakers including Phil Collins, Jeremy Deller, Rosa Barba, Rashid Rana, Brillante Mendoza, Gillian Wearing, Jamie Shovlin and David Shrigley. Recent curatorial credits include group show Anguish and Enthusiasm: What Do You Do With Your Revolution Once You鈥檝e Got It? and an exhibition of artist Stanya Kahn, It鈥檚 Cool, I鈥檓 Good.
